How Kent Casket Industries Inc came to be:

Tony Bryan has been working in the casket manufacturing industry for more than 30 years, supplying the funeral industry with middle and top end polished caskets. In all those years we [the manufacturing industry] took plain pine boxes and and stained them to make them look like exotic caskets. But in recent years the mantra "I just want to be buried in a plain pine box" has been quite insistent so we decided not to camouflage our plain pine boxes any more. Kent Casket Industries now only manufactures these very simple, but extemely well made, plain pine boxes.

It was only the pursuit for cheaper products in the furniture industry that opened the door to chipboard products into the casket industry; this more particularly for cremation caskets. Tony believes that in time to come, for ecological reasons, the cremation of chipboard coffins will become illegal as they are in parts of Europe.

Market research indicated that a low-cost ecologically-friendly casket
was desirous.

Simplicity of assembly was essential and this was achieved. Since the components are manufactured with great dimensional accuracy, they are easily assembled in a matter of minutes. No great DIY skills are required and no sophisticated equipment is needed - the only assembly tool required is a crosshead screwdriver.

After more than a year of research and development, Tony established Kent Casket Industries in 2005 and came to the market with a finely crafted knock-down pine casket called the Woodland.

Because they are made of solid pine wood, these caskets are perfect for Orthodox Jewish burials, green burials and cremations.
